We are looking for a Finance Advisor to provide analysis, guidance, governance, training, and tracking for transformational initiatives covering the Global Borates and Lithium business. Rio Tinto Borates and Lithium (RTB&L) operates globally providing borates to world markets. From our location in Boron, California we supply refined borates which are key ingredients in fiberglass, glass, ceramics, fertilizers, wood preservatives and many other products. This Finance Advisor role is a great opportunity to gain exposure to the various areas of the Rio Tinto Borates & Lithium business. Reporting to the Finance Manager of Rio Tinto Borates, you will be: Own the monthly close process and support the financial & regulatory reporting Review and approve journal entries in collaboration with various actors in Finance or in the business and review trial balance to identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors in the financial statements Review reconciliation of general ledger (G/L) accounts in SAP Manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders Liaising and coordinating with the auditors during the audit cycle for interim and statutory audits Ensure compliance of our internal control procedures and support internal and external auditors in SOX compliance audits (if required) Measure performance against defined KPIs and present the review to your stakeholders and top management monthly Continuously improving our processes with an innovative mindset by leveraging data analytics and digital solutions Participate and lead transition projects Ensure documentation (policies, procedures etc.) is correctly maintained on all activities What you’ll bring To succeed in this role, you will have: Is committed to the safety of yourself and your team Has a CPA designation or equivalent experience Has 5-7 years of relevant work experience Brings expert knowledge and experience of working with SAP Knowledge of business processes such as general accounting, accounts payable/receivable, financial planning & reporting, intercompany accounting, and analytics is highly desirable Experience or strong interest towards digital tools such as Power BI, Power App, ChatGPT is an asset Has the ability to analyze and define business problems, and to identify appropriate operational or process solutions Ability to adapt to change, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team Is curious with a desire to dive into things and, if something seems off, figure out what’s going on Is courageous in embracing new ways of doing things, and driving continuous improvement Is a strong problem-solver with attention to detail Possesses excellent communication skills in English and is comfortable connecting with people Ability to learn quickly, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment It will also be beneficial if you have: A Black Belt or other Business Improvement qualification (Lean Six Sigma) Knowledge of other Business Improvement systems and tools CMA What we offer Here is just a glimpse of our industry leading rewards package: A safety-focused and inclusive working environment A competitive salary package with annual cash incentive awards (STIP) for eligible employees Career development & education assistance to further your ambitions Access to top tier family-friendly health and medical programs Excellent retirement plan including 6% defined company contribution Generous 401k matching program A comprehensive leave policy that covers all moments that matter in life (vacation/annual, paid parental leave, short term sick leave, paid holidays) Ongoing individual wellbeing support for you and your family for personal and professional matter Generous Rio Tinto employee share program Where you’ll be working This role is located in Boron, CA. Requirements
