About The Position

Save the Children’s Impact & Evidence (I&E) division is committed to ensuring that all children in rural America have a healthy, strong foundation to thrive as learners and in life. Our contribution to a full cradle-to-career continuum is focused on the early years, birth through elementary school; and our goals are to increase kindergarten readiness and grade-level literacy and math proficiency for children in under-resourced rural communities. Save the Children is seeking an Advisor, Education. In this role, you will be supporting the delivery  and management of after school programs in rural South Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring programs are implemented effectively and achieve results for the children we work with. You will provide direct supervision and technical assistance to a team of Lead Associates implementing 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st  CCLC) elementary education programs.  Working on-site and remotely, you will provide training, technical assistance, and management support to a portfolio of program partners. You will build capacity within the team and ensure programs are being implemented with maximum impact. This includes attending meetings with partner organizations to troubleshoot issues, providing guidance on quality program implementation, overseeing training event planning, reviewing program data, and meeting donor implementation and reporting requirements. The ideal person in this role requires a high level of discretion, attention to detail, organization, flexibility and accountability. Note: This role is contingent upon funding, with an anticipated start on/around July 2026.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite, Canva, Learning Management System (LMS), and SharePoint
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Willingness to travel regionally up to 30% within South Texas
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • This position may require the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle to fulfill certain essential functions of the job.  The incumbent should maintain a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with any Save the Children policies pertaining to the safe operation of motor vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support program staff to ensure quality implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Save the Children’s program models according to established standards.
  • Provide in-person and remote training and technical assistance for program staff; maximize the use of technology to do so.
  • Visit each assigned site in compliance with the program model to conduct observation, coaching, and mentoring. Complete site visit reports. In-state travel will be required for each of the site visits.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date data collection and reporting for each assigned site.
  • Consult with the Advisors about program questions and needs.
  • Regularly communicate with the Assistant State Director and Advisors about program implementation challenges and successes and how to resolve complex issues.
  • Oversee a subset of the state portfolio of 21st CCLC partner sub-awards; ensuring efficient and allowable use of funds.
  • Provide regular, timely communication to Assistant State Director and other key team members as needed with progress updates, partner/program concerns, and other key areas of operation.
  • Responsible for ensuring state staff and partners have access to strong knowledge management tools and resources needed for program implementation, data entry, monitoring, sharing practices, and managing daily operations.
  • Build and maintain a high performing team – participate in the development of state organizational design and staffing plan; work with Human Resources/Talent Attraction and Acquisition to lead recruitment efforts for state Program Specialist staff; and promote staff learning and development goals.
  • Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging – supporting Save the Children values
  • Attend meetings with school district personnel to troubleshoot education program implementation issues
  • Observe programs in rural communities and provide technical assistance to partner staff
  • Oversee the coordination and planning of onsite and virtual program component trainings
  • Conduct analysis of program data and provide feedback to partner staff and Lead Associates to increase participant impact
  • Develop action plans to increase impact at underperforming program sites
  • Model efficient and effective program implementation and monitoring for Lead Associates
  • Conduct follow-up and supervisory visits to organizations that have undergone training to provide technical assistance and facilitate implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of action plans.
  • Develop and maintain a trainee database to monitor trainees and further training needs.
  • Provide mentorship/coaching and technical assistance to the organizations that would like to improve their early education outcomes.
  • Become familiar with federal 21st CCLC donor requirements, prepare all required documents, follow up on partner requirements, attend all required trainings and submit quarterly program narrative reports.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Growth team and program implementation to support the cultivation of partnerships and/or relationships with external organizations, donors and other key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of funding proposals, marketing content, donor meetings, proposal reviews, presentations and other external relations that require technical expertise
