About The Position

The Advising Specialist at Coastal Carolina University is a time-limited, part-time position within the University Advising office under the Office of the Provost. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• Two (2) years higher education or teaching experience (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work well as a team member.
• Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail and follow instructions without close supervision.
• Consultation skills.
• Competency with culturally diverse populations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment.

• Familiarity with FERPA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with information focused on meeting developmental academic needs, including transition to the college environment, exploration of various major fields of study, career options, available resources, and university policies.
• Assist students with the course planning and registration process; keep accurate records of student advising contacts and progress toward a degree.
• Process student requests and forms in a timely manner; audit student records each semester to ensure appropriate course selection and progress; provide final audits for graduating seniors.
• Engage in departmental committees and professional development.
