About The Position

Provide comprehensive academic, personal, career and financial aid counseling to each program participant. Assess and document the academic and motivational needs of students selected for participation in program activities. Assist in providing program awareness of the Upward Bound Program to stakeholders and school site partners, parents, and community member. Identify, recruit, screen and select prospective program participants based on a rigorous selection process. Assists Upward Bound seniors in applying for admission into post-secondary institutions and securing financial aid resources. Monitor and document satisfactory academic progress of participants at each target school. Gather and disseminate information on post-secondary entrance requirements, availability of financial aid, and other college preparatory information to prepare Upward Bound participants to successfully transition to college. Plan and implement cultural enrichment activities for UBA Summer Academy. Supervise and train undergraduate tutoring staff. Plan, Coordinate, and chaperone overnight trips for students locally, regional, and domestic. Orient new and continuing participants to TRiO Upward Bound program requirements and encourage full participation in program offerings. Develop and foster student non-cognitive skills, abilities, and behaviors, such as positive academic behaviors, self-confidence & self-efficacy, long range academic & career goal setting, leadership, school and community involvement, retention, persistence, and completion. Engage in collaborative efforts with other Upward Bound and Federal TRIO Programs to seek internal and external resources to augment program services. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
