About The Position

The Gazette is seeking a dynamic and strategic Advertising Sales Manager to lead and motivate our sales team, drive revenue growth, and contribute to the future of local media through innovative advertising and marketing solutions. The Advertising Sales Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing advertising sales operations, managing a personal book of business, and mentoring a team of account executives. The ideal candidate is both a coach and a closer — someone who leads by example, brings energy to the team, and consistently meets or exceeds sales targets.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in advertising or media sales, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or management role preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, inspire, and hold a team accountable.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and KPIs to drive informed decision-making.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to balance strategic planning with hands-on sales activities.
  • Knowledge of digital advertising, print media, and integrated marketing campaigns preferred with a preference to someone with a strong digital acumen.
  • Experience with CRM platforms and sales tracking tools.
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of advertising sales representatives to achieve individual and team revenue goals.
  • Actively manage and grow a personal book of business consisting of key local and regional advertisers.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and initiatives to drive new business and expand existing accounts.
  • Join sales reps on client meetings and calls to coach, support, and help close deals.
  • Establish, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular training, performance feedback, and professional development for team members.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, editorial, and digital teams to create cross-platform advertising solutions.
  • Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and insights to leadership.
  • Stay current with industry trends and competitor activity to ensure the company remains a leader in local advertising.
