About The Position

Adventure Course Specialist, part-time position. Summary of Duties: Assist with the operation of The Woodlands Township Aerial Adventure Course (Texas TreeVentures), act as supervisor on-site for Adventure Course Operators and fulfill skill roles required by ANSI/ACCT 03-2019 standards to be operational whenever Adventure Course Coordinator is not present. Assists to ensure a safe visitor experience through compliance with ACCT standards and risk management practices. Assists with the collection of fees, maintenance of equipment, marketing efforts, and report development by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with the implementation and adherence to the standards for the Adventure Course as set forth in the most current version of the ANSI/ACCT Challenge Courses and Canopy/Zip Line Tours Standards and updates. Assists with the implementation of the Course Business and Operational Plans, ensuring the course meets its financial goals. Assists with the development, facilitation and evaluation of the staff training program for the facility which meets or exceeds the ANSI/ACCT Challenge Courses and Canopy/Zip Line Tours Standards (and updates). Obtain Level II Certification from ACCT (Association of Challenge Course Technology) within two years of employment. Assists with the development of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on attendance, revenue, usage, marketing effectiveness/cost, social media and cost recovery. Assists with development and implementation of programs related to the use of the Adventure Course. Welcome and assist visitors or direct them to the appropriate staff member, including fitting customers with harnesses, helmets and other required gear. Provide on-course assistance to customers which includes but is not limited to addressing questions/fears, spotting issues with gear and assisting customers off the course if not able to continue. Collect fees for course usage, programs and other services offered by the Adventure Course and the Parks and Recreation Department. Assists in maintaining course staff certifications, facilitation portfolios and training hours. Prepare promotional material pertaining to facility use, fees, policies, etc. Answer phones; answer routine questions or direct call to appropriate staff member; take message as needed. Promote course programs and services to potential customers in person and by phone. Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating part time and seasonal staff; recommend selection of staff; work with employees to correct deficiencies. Assist with conducting staff meetings, required training and in-service training sessions. Assist in the development of schedules and planning for course programs. Assist in the implementation of revenue generating activities and events to supplement program operation. Assist in evaluating operations and make recommendations for improvement. Responsible for money handling, cash reports and deposits. Utilize FareHarbor booking software to assist with daily operations. Responsible for answering phones, helping walk-up customers, and making reservations. Perform facility opening and closing procedures for the Adventure Course and any off-site facility used for programs. Must be comfortable climbing and working at heights of up to 50 ft. Required to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.
  • One (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within the first ninety (90) days of employment and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
  • ACCT Level II Certification within two (2) years of employment.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening, pass background check, and eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Employees must: Have the physical capability to assist and accommodate guests of various sizes throughout the course, including rescues.
  • Be able to hike, climb and rappel to and from heights of up to 50 feet above the ground.
  • Possess full range of overhead arm motions.
  • Have full hand dexterity.
  • Have strong upper body to pull self and the potential addition of 275 pounds more along each cable’s incline.
  • Be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Be able to decrease the speed of and stop patrons of various weights and speeds.
  • Performing the physical duties of this position requires full use of sensory abilities including sight, hearing, touch, speech and smell.
  • Requirements of the employee include walking, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Set-up and breakdown of all aspects of program are frequently required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Travel or Tourism preferred.
  • Two years of experience preferred.
