About The Position

Assist the AC Supervisor in the preparation and management of instructional, clerical, and program support for implementing an educationally enriched after-school program appropriate for children ages 4-12. This position will not exceed 19.75 hours per week.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED equivalent
CPR and First Aid Certification preferred to be completed within the 90 days of hire
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Ability to work well with children ages 4-12
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and deescalate situations
Knowledge of general office equipment, procedures, and machinery
Proficient in basic computer skills, computer literacy programs, Internet, Microsoft Office applications, typing, keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance skills
Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with students, staff, and community members
Ability to file books following district cataloging system
Health and physical qualifications appropriate for the demands of the position

Nice To Haves

Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a position, including contact with school age children, preferred

Responsibilities

Perform tasks under the general supervision of the Adventure Club Supervisor or District Coordinator
Work cooperatively with the staff in preparing the meeting room/location (cafeteria, gym, playground, classroom, etc.); prepare activities and instructional materials for students
Greet students and parents; check and maintain accurate student attendance
Assist in taking payments, writing receipts, and maintain accurate student records
Assist in managing student behavior and activities to facilitate a positive and safe environment
Follow District Guidelines in maintaining confidentiality regarding student information, discipline, and classroom management
Maintain the Log-in/Log-out rosters and submit weekly to Campus Principal
Facilitates the classroom routines with fellow staff
Facilitate homework, reading and study skills for students
Sanitize the environment daily or as often as needed; assist in maintaining a healthy and safe classroom, activity area and playground
Document and report on students’ performance and behavior; discuss behavior with parents
Supervise staff and students in a variety of settings including but not limited to playground, nap/quite time, library, arts and crafts, lunch time and/or snack time activities
Maintain an accurate count of student snack inventory and report amounts to AC Supervisor; complete required forms for Federal Snack program and submit in a timely manner (daily to school cafeteria manager & weekly to campus Principal)
Follow established policies and execute plans of action in case of emergencies; establish a safety zone with school principal, practices Emergency Operation Drills monthly
Assist teachers and students in use of computers, printers, and instructional software
Assist students, staff, and parents with a variety of technology (i.e. Chromebooks, laptops, desktops, iPads, Kindle Fire Tablets, pointers, wireless mice, document cameras, USB ports, etc.)
Attend required in-service training sessions as well as individual training as determined by the AC Supervisor or District Coordinator
Assist with the preparation of instructional materials for the classroom
Provide a safe and conductive atmosphere for the educational program
Assist the AC Supervisor in routine clerical tasks and participate in selecting, planning, organizing, and evaluating the instructional program
Keep instructional staff informed of concerns or special needs of individual students
Complete tasks in a timely manner
Perform other duties based on program needs assigned by campus supervisor
Participate in selecting, organizing, and evaluating program elements
Work with individual students to complete instructional program needs
Help with record keeping, health routines, lunchroom and playground activities
Attend to the physical needs of students when necessary and assist in the training of self-help skills
Accompany classes on field trips and assist with loading/unloading of school buses
Report immediately all accidents involving students and/or staff to appropriate officials
Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
Ability to use a personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
Complete a time sheet and forward to the District Coordinator in a timely manner
Can be moved to another district campus, as determined, due to enrollment
Supervision and evaluation of district personnel is not a requirement of the position; however, the supervision of students is required.
