About The Position

At Lyon College, we're on a mission to connect with alumni, friends, and donors who want to help our students succeed-and we need someone with your talent to keep us organized and running smoothly behind the scenes. This isn't just data entry. You'll be the backbone of our advancement operations, turning information into insights and ensuring every gift is handled with care.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or related field (preferred but not required).
  • 2+ years of experience in advancement services, development, or related roles-bonus points if it's in higher ed or nonprofit work.
  • Data management skills that would impress even the toughest IT person.
  • Familiarity with gift accounting and nonprofit fundraising principles (or a willingness to learn).
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks without breaking a sweat.
  • A friendly, helpful attitude.
  • Comfort with spreadsheets, word processing, and e-commerce/payment systems.
  • Willingness to pitch in for events and campaigns.

  • Experience with Jenzabar.

Responsibilities

  • Keep our donor and alumni database (CRM) squeaky clean and up to date.
  • Work your data entry magic-adding new constituents and updating contact info like a pro.
  • Generate reports and lists that make our mailings, stewardship, and fundraising campaigns shine.
  • Manage data imports, exports, and clean-ups like a digital detective.
  • Process gifts, pledges, and matching gifts (and make sure donors get those all-important receipts).
  • Partner with our finance team to keep records accurate and reconciled.
  • Help craft heartfelt acknowledgment letters and donor recognition strategies.
  • Provide donor profiles and insights that make our development team look brilliant.
  • Support annual giving campaigns, capital campaigns, and other fundraising adventures.
  • Team up with marketing to reach alumni and donors in style.
  • Provide updates on campaign progress-because everyone loves good news.
  • Offer logistical support for events.
  • Keep us compliant with gift policies and privacy laws.
  • Safeguard donor information like it's a state secret.
  • Master the art of spreadsheet formatting.
  • And yes, 'other duties as assigned' (but we promise to keep it reasonable).
