Who will you be working with? The Operations & Technology (O&T) team is a diverse team covering all service initiatives relative to WABTEC’s locomotives. The team interacts with WABTEC’s remanufacturing shops as well as customer account service shops, worldwide. This specific role primarily interacts with WABTEC’s diesel engine remanufacturing site in Grove City, PA USA, collaborating with engineering, Global Supply Chain, manufacturing operations, and customer service accounts. This role will also have interactions with international remanufacturing and service sites. How will you make a difference? As a member of the O&T Engine Productivity Squad within the Wabtec Global Services Organizations (GSO), you will be responsible for leading the definition and execution of life-cycle cost (LCC) optimization projects, primarily involving the application of technologies enabling the inspection, repair and requalification of engine components. In this role you will be expected to influence multi-year strategic investment planning related to repair and inspection technologies, including but not limited to: automation systems, advanced repair techniques, non-destructive inspection methods, and industrial vision technologies. This will require developing a broad understanding of industry trends and available technologies, building external supplier relationships, and effectively facilitating the development, validation and implementation of these technologies at Wabtec remanufacturing and service sites as a part of a cross-functional project team. Successful implementation and sustainable performance of these projects will support the overall goal of the O&T Engine Productivity Squad to deliver multi-million dollar productivity savings versus prior year baselines. What do we want to know about you? Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university Minimum of 5 years of experience in Field Services, Operations, Engineering/Technology, Techncial Project Management or Service Contract Management Minimum of 5 years of diesel engine development, manufacturing and/or service experience Strong understanding of industrial technology, supply chain and shop operations Willingness to travel 10% of the time, both domestic and internationally. Desired Characteristics: Experienced in bringing next‑generation automation tools (i.e. vision inspection systems or automation equipment), or other emerging technologies, into production settings Ability to scope automation requirements and develop functional design specifications Hands-on experience with 2D/3D industrial vision systems (i.e. Cognex, Keyence, Simplex, etc.) Practical understanding of common NDT methods (i.e. UT, EC, X-ray, etc.) Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills Specific knowledge of large engine repair processes Awareness of laser welding processes Problem-solving mindset geared towards creative solutions Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a consistent ability to effectively communicate and influence across cross-functional organizations and upper management. Ability to work constructively in a fast-paced environment and accommodate shifting priorities. Strong initiative with the ability to independently evaluate priorities and lead multiple projects simultaneously Strong business, technical, and financial acumen Knowledge of Wabtec and Global Services processes What will your typical day look like? Engage with the LCC team to execute technical and project management tasks aimed at reducing Engine repair and requalification cost through the implementation of new technologies Assist in the development of Multi-Generational Project Plans (MGPP) and strategize budget and ROI considerations to justify the validation and implementation of advanced technologies Lead and direct technical discussions between suppliers, design engineers, and principal engineers relative, but not limited, to LCC projects Facilitate communication within the team, as needed, to achieve milestones and professionally manage communications with internal / external project stakeholders Identify risks to project execution, schedule, or valuation and facilitate the mitigation of those risks with the appropriate team and communicate as needed Drive continuous improvement within other service divisions of WABTEC by developing a network of resources to standardize best practices Professionally represent Wabtec during all customer and supplier interactions What about the physical demands of the job? The salary rate for this role is currently $79100-112800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
