At Sparklight, a Cable One brand, Advanced Technicians provide world class support service by completing new customer installations, repairing equipment, and troubleshooting. They maintain high level service by troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions in the Headend, HFC and fiber optic networks, and the Home Terminal Units. They support customers by repairing both local plant performance issues and customer-owned equipment, using electronic test equipment. The role involves reading and interpreting system/network design maps, verifying as built documentation, and reporting findings. Technicians splice and/or terminate coaxial and fiber optics cables, mount active and passive devices (aerial and underground), activate active devices, and test equipment for optimal performance. They also perform surveys for service capability, create maps/drawings for cost estimation, and accurately perform underground facility locates. Construction maintenance duties include splicing and activating new coaxial plant, repairing/replacing damaged plant, and inspecting/repairing/replacing power supplies. Continuous monitoring for ingress/egress and signal leakage ride-out activities are also part of the role. Advanced Technicians also train system technical personnel as directed by local system management.
