About The Position

The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Advanced Technical Writing on-site in Hagerstown, MD. This role involves delivering a comprehensive, project-based curriculum focused on applied technical writing, aimed at developing effective technical documents for diverse audiences. The position is part-time and will be utilized throughout the full academic calendar year, emphasizing engagement with adult learners and collaboration in problem-based learning environments.

Requirements

• Master's degree in English or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Professional experience in English or a related field.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.

• Terminal degree in English or related field from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Teach Advanced Technical Writing (WRTG 393) on-site at Hagerstown, MD.
• Engage students through frequent interaction and motivate them to succeed.
• Guide students in active collaboration and application of their learning.
• Provide constructive feedback on student work using rubrics.
• Demonstrate subject-matter expertise and connect concepts across the academic program.
• Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements.
