About The Position

Vehicle Systems - Advanced Systems Engineer Summary: We currently have exciting opportunities for Advanced Systems Engineers to lead and participate in the vehicle development in our Advanced Development organization , located at our Indiana Technical Center in Carmel, IN. This position is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment. Responsibilities: · Lead vehicle builds and checkout for internal and external within Aptiv vehicle builds and checkout. · Indirectly lead technicians and vehicle preparation for the team’s activities. · Lead all vehicle integration testing and system checkout for Systems and Software teams. Vehicle integration include radars, vision, lidar, domain controllers, and navigation systems. · Lead vehicle-level testing activities for advanced engineering projects, including test. scheduling, planning, test procedure generation, test execution, data analysis, and results and issue reporting. · Interface closely with other competencies to ensure requirements are properly provided and that the vehicle level requirements developed are properly implemented. · Define vehicle architectures to develop and demonstrate GPO products. · (Vehicle architectures include power architecture, communication architecture, and system level architecture.) · Ensure vehicles are per defined vehicle architecture. · Plan development activities and resources assignments utilizing a global team. · Coordinate with others to ensure Systems deliverables are completed on time per project. schedules, have proper content and meet both internal and customer quality standards. · Plan and prioritize program deliverables with Project and Product Owners in AGILE program Iterations. · Oversee the development/maintenance and adherence of project family common architectures. · Identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvement and implement appropriate initiatives. · Drive process, procedure, and methodology improvements to optimize work efficiency. · Support pursuit activities and product demos. · Design and execute vehicle feature benchmarking tests. · Test and verify internally developed Active Safety vehicle features. · Ensure team complies with the Automotive SPICE development requirements leveraging internal development processes. · Interface with Aptiv’s strategic partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of vehicle-level testing experience in ADAS/Autonomous Driving, or 3+ years vehicle-level testing experience in one of the following areas: Durability/Reliability, Vehicle Dynamics, Homologation
  • 1+ years of project leadership in an automotive testing environment
  • 2+ years of experience supporting networking, IT support, Windows and Linux, installations and updates
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, well organized, flexible, works well with complex issues
  • Ability to multi-task and work in team environment
  • Leadership skills
  • Passionate about creating innovation cutting-edge automotive safety products
  • Hands on abilities for working vehicle builds.
  • Experience with hardware / software interfaces and communication protocols such as CAN, CAN-FD, Flexray, Ethernet
  • Experience with CANalyzer/CANape
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux Command Line, with most recent Ubuntu releases.
  • Understanding of Linux networking (interface configuration)
  • Installation and configuration of Linux PCs including:
  • Base install
  • Package additions (apt and other package managers, documentation of image creation, and backup)
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Command line (MS Windows).
  • Understanding of Windows networking (interface configuration)
  • Installation and configuration of Windows PCs including OS and applications
  • Advanced understanding of UDP & TCP/IP networking including topics such as:
  • Unicast, broadcast, & multicast
  • Subnet design & private network spaces
  • Setup and design of Windows and Linux systems with multiple Ethernet interfaces
  • Basic switch management
  • Vlan concepts and design
  • Advanced use of Wireshark, display filters, and related tools

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering Master’s
  • Experience integrating and testing ADAS systems involving Radar, Vision, and/or Lidar
  • Comfortable leading meetings with internal/external customer teams to plan activities, communicate test results and describe data in technical depth
  • Experience in data analysis and/or vehicle integration
  • Experience working with remote Engineers, Technicians and Operators/Drivers
  • Experience working in an AGILE environment using Scrum or AutoScrum methodologies
