As an Advanced Systems Administration Specialist, you'll serve as a front-line interface to users with technical issues by conducting systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies. Your duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users. You'll also be responsible for the day-to-day support of server services by performing server administration for physical and virtual server operating systems and configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware and network related interfaces on servers. And, you'll perform OS and vendor software patching on servers and monitor physical and virtual servers performance using monitoring tools. The Sys-Admin role provides information system solutions, and technical support to GDMS and our clients. Responsibilities include personal computer and client server support, systems administration of Linux based physical or virtual servers, applications support, storage support and system security.

  • Perform administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Oracle Linux, versions 7/8/9.
  • Azure Cloud experience using Azure Portal.
  • Troubleshoot problems with Linux based systems understanding the difference between kernel and application related issues.
  • Analyze CPU and memory performance using Linux kernel understanding.
  • Determine a system related error via a system call or a signal parameter.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical hardware including Dell and Nutanix servers.
  • Interact with an artificial intelligence chatbot.
  • Automate repetitive processes using Python or Ansible scripting.
  • Work with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems with Linux servers.
  • Perform administration of virtualized Linux servers via Nutanix Acropolis web client.
  • Analyze and log Host Intrusion Detection Systems tools like Splunk alerts.
  • Monitor system and vendor management performance using tools like Grafana.
  • Use internal Linux tools for performance like SAR, vmstat, and top.
  • Perform periodic security patching of servers based on recommended patch sets using RHEL Satellite tools.
  • Work with security compliance tools on Linux OS and support security remediation.
  • Configure, maintain and validate the Linux environment for compliance to pass cyber security audits.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot variations of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP.
  • Troubleshoot within the Linux OS as well as network and storage.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within our facilities.
  • Solid understanding of server based operating systems.
  • Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS as well as both networking and storage technologies.
  • Working knowledge to create and run scripts to automate repetitive processes.
  • Red Hat or similar level of certifications.
  • Familiarity with using or creating an AI Assistant.
  • Experience with Grafana and Splunk.
  • AWS Cloud support.
  • Familiarity with ClearCase and Centrify/Delinea.
  • Knowledge and experience in the ITIL service framework.
