We anticipate the need for one or more Advanced Step Gas Technician Apprentice/ Journeyman Gas Technician(s) to be located at our Faribault Service Center in Faribault, MN. This position will require the successful applicant to reside within 20 miles of the Faribault Service Center. $50.60 is the Rate of Pay for Journeyman qualification. An Advanced Step Apprentice will be coming in at 75% of the Journeyman rate of pay for 3rd step, 81.25% for 4th step, 87.5% for 5th step or 93.75% for 6th step. Posting will be posted for 10 working days coming down on October 8, 2025.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a Class A commercial driver's license
  • One or more years' Gas Construction and/or Gas Service experience
  • Journeyman-level requires three or more years of experience as a Gas Technician
  • Gas Technician experience preferred
  • Must be certified in plastic fusion per Xcel Energy requirements within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds safely
  • Must reside within a 20-mile radius of the Faribault Service Center
  • Must meet Operator Qualification requirements
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships in a team-oriented environment
  • Direct customer contact experience desirable
  • Pass the Gas Respirator Qualification test
  • Subject to residency requirements and on-call duty on a rotating basis
  • May require rotating or off shift working hours
