The Advanced Specialist, Production (Maintenance) plays a key role in optimizing the internal supply chain and material flow, while also supporting plant capacity increases—such as line installations, product growth, and utilization improvement projects (UTP)—to ensure material handling processes are effective for plant success and comply with Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Environmental (SQRE) standards. This role acts as the gatekeeper for the schedulers, being responsible for the acceptance of the production schedule and serving as the essential conduit between production and scheduling teams. The Specialist actively identifies scheduling improvement opportunities and collaborates with schedulers to enforce compliance with crucial scheduling rules, including windows for raw material receipt, minimum batch sizes, production wheels, sequencing, schedule breaks, and changeover rules. Responsibilities: Assist and provide direction to maintenance resources with equipment troubleshooting to mitigate downtime Perform unit/equipment walkdowns and communicate with Process Experts to identify emerging risks Work with Manufacturing Experts to prioritize work orders and ensure priority work is completed in a timely manner Ensure unit is ready for scheduled maintenance work to optimize maintenance schedule Walk down critical jobs and ensure isolation plan is adequate Provide leadership and coaching in safety to uphold safety standards and requirements Give all maintenance breakers a first pass and coordinate with Asset Leader on what resources are needed Work with Production Planning to provide direction to Total Productive Maintenance crew on upcoming turnarounds Work with Team Captain to prioritize DCT workload Engage with supply chain to ensure that they are aware of any production schedule challenges, including planned maintenance outages, raw material concerns, unplanned downtime, and OST. Ensures that production runs are being scheduled with the accurate inputs regarding rates, OST, and changeover time. Continuously monitors throughput and production to ensure adherence to schedule and commitments. Detect and anticipate emerging issues that will affect productivity and the schedule; includes collection and analysis required metrics and provide short term/long term plan to address/resolve process gaps. Facilitate kaizen events and actions to improve efficiency, reliability, and continuously improve processes in order to minimize unplanned downtime and decrease changeover times. Collaborate with Asset Leader to understand and set priority for equipment repairs while communicating to appropriate stakeholders in production and scheduling. Communicate issues or barriers with production schedule or material containment. Generate ideas for improvement and support implementation of process improvements. Support MT area specifications for material handling and compliance for IATF 13485 procedures.
