About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking an Advanced Systems Engineer to analyze, design, develop, and test GDMS systems. The role involves ensuring the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety, and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Responsibilities include requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation, and interface definition studies of system elements. The systems typically include digital signal processing algorithms implemented in hardware and software for space-based systems. Candidates with experience in digital signal processing algorithm development, particularly for statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements, are highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Agile experience.
  • Experience in Python.
  • Experience with SmallSats and CubeSats development.
  • Hardware Prototype Development, 'FlatSat', 'Hardware Integration', 'Hardware in-the-loop' Systems Integrations and Test Experience.
  • Electrical Engineering and/or Systems Engineering experience, particularly with communications or digital signal processing focus.
  • Experience with Agile hardware, software, or firmware development, DevOps, CI/CD.
  • Experience with Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)/SySML/MagicDraw/Cameo.
  • Experience in Space Payloads Design, Development or I&T.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, and test GDMS systems.
  • Ensure integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct requirements analysis, definition, and management.
  • Perform functional and performance analysis.
  • Engage in system design and trade studies.
  • Conduct systems integration and test (verification) and validation.
  • Formulate operational concepts and perform mission, functional, cost-benefit, and risk analysis.
  • Develop signal processing architecture and overall system architecture.
