About The Position
Rock Hill School District Three in York County, South Carolina is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable High School Advanced Science Teacher. This full-time position requires a candidate who possesses a U.S. Bachelor's Degree in Science, Education, or a related field, or its foreign equivalent, along with a valid South Carolina teaching certificate with an appropriate specialization. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of teaching experience in a high school STEM program, including at least one year in an administrative capacity that involves program development and supervisory duties. The primary responsibilities of the Advanced Science Teacher include teaching advanced concepts and skills in aerospace, engineering, robotics, and chemistry to students in grades 9 through 12. The teacher will instruct students in various science content areas, emphasizing laboratory experiments, research methodologies, and scientific problem-solving techniques. Additionally, the teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing lesson plans, facilitating engaging learning experiences, and developing both formative and summative assessments to evaluate student performance. Collaboration is key in this role, as the teacher will interact with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to foster a supportive learning environment. Participation in ongoing professional development activities is expected to enhance teaching practices and stay current with educational trends. Other duties may include tutoring students, writing curriculum, conducting peer evaluations, and performing administrative tasks as assigned. The teacher will also work closely with other science educators and administrators to develop district-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing the STEM program. This position may require the teacher to transfer to different buildings within the district's metro-statistical area to meet the district's business needs. Candidates should have a strong GPA in relevant coursework, outstanding communication skills, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary studies. Knowledge of instructional technology and its application in science education is also essential.
