The position involves performing statistical and related business intelligence analyses to inform the design and assessment of health care quality and safety. The role includes developing scheduled, updated analyses for a production system of reports and creating datasets for high-level statistical analyses as part of an innovative team.

  • Proficient in the use of SAS and SQL software to create datasets for analysis from multiple, primary sources, conducts analyses and creates reports.
  • Write SQL queries for data manipulation, sorting, summarizing and reporting.
  • Reviews, analyzes and modifies programming systems including coding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.
  • Uses standard macros/code to comply with department standards.
  • Checks for validity and reproducibility of quality/safety measures when indicated from multiple data sources.
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of reports.
  • Uses additional reporting tools such as Business Objects, Excel, Tableau etc. as needed.
  • Maintains routine reporting and data load processes.
  • Able to produce graphical and other visual displays of data to guide the decision-maker.
  • Collaborates with medical and clinical staff leadership and colleagues to determine information needs and to understand requirements for application and/or reports.
  • Leads team projects and provides reporting support for web applications.
  • Assists staff with understanding of healthcare data and assists in the training of new staff members.
  • Provides programming and analytical expertise on team projects.
  • Bachelors Degree, Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in business intelligence analyses pertaining to at least one of the following: clinical, financial, operations, biostatistics, epidemiology, clinical research or industrial engineering.
  • Proficient in SAS and SQL, Base SAS, SAS STAT, SAS QC, SAS Graph, ODS, macro programming.
  • Understanding of healthcare data - inpatient, outpatient or managed care (preferred).
  • Ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects, perform a variety of tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to and handle changing priorities.
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs and questions.
