Purpose: Responsible for provision of direct nursing services including psychopharmacological responsibilities. Provides psychopharmacological crisis services, including the transmittal of prescription orders per written protocols, consistent with level of licensure and qualifications. Consults and/or refers to the medical director or designee as indicated. Accountabilities: Monitors for symptom reduction as well as side effects of medication. Utilizes physiological laboratory data as needed or as indicated per protocol. Provides psychiatric and physical assessment, history-taking, and differential diagnosis as indicated. Serves as a point of referral for further medical evaluation with appropriate providers as part of the physical assessment. Coordinates individual psychopharmacological services with the treatment team. Provides and/or coordinates individual patient crisis services when symptoms arise as well as management of chronic problems. Provides crisis stabilization and prevention-oriented patient education and care as indicated. Develops and maintains current working knowledge of psychopharmacology and mental health disorders. Maintains documentation of clinical services in accordance with RSI policies and procedures. Develops and maintains close working relationship with medical director and executive director. Participates in annual review of medication protocol. Performs other related duties within the scope of training and licensure when deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor or designate. Complies with all relevant RSI policies and procedures.
