ARNP/PA-C provides primary medical care to patients enrolled in the program for treatment of opioid addiction.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of methods and principles of general medicine; methods of diagnosing and treating more common medical and/or mental disorders; clinics organization and procedures; social work and rehabilitation therapies.
  • Ability to examine, diagnose and recommend treatment of physical diseases and deficiencies; interpret laboratory analyses and X-rays; prepare comprehensive case histories.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Good empathy, as well as personal and ethical boundaries.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a cross-culture environment, understands the social and cultural context of the patients at the didgwalic Wellness Center.
  • Understands the role of trauma, historical, community, family, and personal experience in wellness and recovery.
  • Understands and adheres to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR part 2).
  • Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Advanced computer and software experience using MS Office products.
  • Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required or Master’s degree from accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
  • Current valid WA state RN and Advanced Practice Nursing (ANRP) or Physician Assistant Licensure (PA) required.
  • Prescribing authority/DEA licensure in good standing in WA state preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred.
  • Previous substance abuse treatment and/or primary care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides primary care to patients of the didgʷálic Wellness Center with appropriate clinical management which may include prescription of medications, referrals, and education/counselling.
  • Manages common health issues that arise including Hepatitis C, Wound Management, URI, HTN, and asthma.
  • Diagnoses or treats complex, unstable, comorbid, episodic, or emergency conditions in collaboration with other health care providers as necessary.
  • Provides medical services including taking a history and physical examination of the patients for the opioid treatment program and performs appropriate follow-up visits.
  • Accurately and efficiently monitors daily doses of Methadone/Buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex) or other medications appropriate for the treatment of opioid use disorder.
  • Provides outpatient detoxification and treatment services to persons addicted to opiates.
  • Develops treatment plans, based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
  • Provides general health counseling services under the supervision of the Associate Medical Director and follows the progress of patients.
  • Makes appropriate records of findings during examinations.
  • Educates patients regarding how to take prescribed medication and possible side effects.
  • Monitors organization-wide performance improvement activities as a member of the clinic medical team and participates in staff meetings and/or consultations as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Medical Provider.
