About The Position

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY Perform direct patient care in the Internal Medicine, Iowa River Landing Clinic, including diagnostic and therapeutic services. Exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide clinical care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions Provide guideline-concordant preventive health services Obtain accurate medical histories and perform appropriate physical examinations. Prescribe medications and treatments Order, follow up, and interpret diagnostic tests May perform office procedures including the suturing and care of wounds, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation, skin biopsy, mole or wart removal, toenail removal, arthrocentesis, incision and drainage of abscesses. Ensure timely completion of medical records, including progress notes, and updating problem lists and health maintenance records Ensure timely completion of visit coding and billing Ensure timely responses to patient and staff questions Instruct and counsel patients regarding behavioral and lifestyle interventions Refer patients to appropriate specialty and subspecialty physicians as indicated by the patients’ problems. Maintain awareness of health facilities, agencies and resources in order to facilitate the appropriate referral of patients. Order and interpret EKGs. Direct other medical personnel and health professionals in the execution of patient care. Assist with and participate in clinical research and/or trials. Participate in committees within the division, department, College of Medicine and University of Iowa Health Care. Maintain awareness of health facilities, agencies and resources in order to facilitate the appropriate referral of patients. Establish and maintain standards of collaborative interaction among peers and employees that is characterized by respect, honesty, and service; assure that all unit members are held to similar standards and ethics; constructively manages conflict. Inspire and motivate others to high performance by exercising strong stewardship of University resources, setting expectations, measuring success through individual performance evaluations, and driving organizational results. Identify opportunities for and create development plans that encourage employees to attend to the growth of their personal and professional capacity; engage self and staff in collective reflection of the University’s greater role in society. The department intends to hire for one position as either an ARNP, requisition 25005811 or PA, requisition 25005813, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field required; if master’s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
  • Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa required.
  • Three or more years of experience working with primary or acute care is required.

  • Previous experience in specialty area may be desired by the division or department.
