Requirements

  • Physician Assistant applicants must be NCCPA certified or a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program.
  • Nurse Practitioners must be AANC or AANP certified, or a graduate of a CCNE or ACEN accredited program.
  • BLS, ACLS, DEA Schedule II-V or equivalent furnishing certificate is required prior to start of program.
  • Must be licensed to practice in the State of California.
  • Previous EMS/ED work experience is highly desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a 15-month program at Kaweah Health Medical Center designed to train AP's in Emergency Medicine utilizing didactic and clinical experience.
  • Participate in off-site rotations at Adventist Health Tulare.
  • Attend weekly formal didactic training and discussion.
  • Attend weekly conferences with EM Residents.
  • Receive hands-on clinical training and close supervision from certified PA's, NP's, and BE/BC Emergency Physicians.
  • Gain exposure to emergency medicine, critical care, trauma surgery, emergency ultrasound, pediatrics, mental health, and intake rotation.
  • Achieve certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Focus on clinical excellence, provider wellness and longevity, and the development of leadership qualities.
