About The Position

The Advanced Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical direction and support to Cooper Standard manufacturing facilities. This position will facilitate the standardization of processes by product line, including the development and maintenance of standards used for equipment specification and procurement, cost estimating, and the sharing of best practices within Cooper Standard. This position works closely with Sales, Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, and Cost Estimating.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Typically has two plus years of experience.
  • Solves problems in typical situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment.
  • Impacts quality and effectiveness of own work team and the work of others on the team.
  • Ability to explain moderately complex information to others in a concise manner.
  • Good written and presentation skills.
  • Must have good technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to assess risk and prioritize.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Cooper Standard's manufacturing facilities to reduce cost, improve quality, and achieve advancements in both process and product technology.
  • Leads the research and implementation of new or improved equipment/tooling/processes to satisfy changing production requirements.
  • Works with outside machinery suppliers, machine shops, plant engineering, and maintenance in these efforts.
  • Assists in the validation of new processes as necessary.
  • May be required to obtain/negotiate approval or revisions to customer product specifications.
  • Initiates projects and tasks through creative insight, leveraging manufacturing and product knowledge.
  • Confirms feasibility/capability of proposed product/process improvements using statistical methods.
  • Assists in the transfer of product and process between manufacturing facilities.
  • Acts as communicative link between CS technical and manufacturing sites for process development, best practice exchange, standardization, etc.
  • Mentors associate program engineers.
  • Keeps current on developments related to manufacturing and product technology through meetings with suppliers, customers, trade publications, etc.
