About The Position

The Orthopedic Advanced Practitioner (NP or PA) provides advanced clinical care in collaboration with Orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary teams. This role encompasses comprehensive patient assessments, diagnostic interpretation, therapeutic interventions, and procedural care. In this role, you will work alongside top Orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to provide advanced clinical care to our patients. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive patient assessments, interpreting diagnostic procedures, implementing therapeutic interventions, and facilitating continuity of care across our orthopedic service line. Requirements

  • Master’s degree as Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) from an accredited program
  • Eligibility to obtain Orthopaedic NP specialty certification (ONP‑C) to demonstrate orthopedic specialty knowledge.
  • Current Minnesota license and board certification -National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
  • Active NP or PA licensure
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in acute care or surgical setting
  • Proficiency in EMR documentation and medical coding
  • Must work well under pressure and be sensitive to concerns and confidentiality of the patient
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication

  • 1+ years of experience in orthopedics, or inpatient hospital medicine
  • Familiarity with orthopedic devices, injections, and minor procedures
  • Strong patient education and triage skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams
  • Interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
  • Formulate differential diagnoses and establish working diagnoses
  • Conduct hospital rounds, discharge planning, and consultative evaluations
  • Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to develop care plans
  • Document patient data including admission/discharge notes and progress notes
  • Implement therapeutic interventions and prescribe medications/devices
  • Perform minor procedures within scope (e.g., wound management, injections)
  • Provide patient education and facilitate medical documentation
  • Participate in research, database management, and quality assurance
