About The Position

This is a highly responsible clinical nursing position providing primary care services, diagnostic evaluations, physical examinations for adults and children for new and existing clients in the rural, medically underserved counties of Bradford and Union. This position is based in Union County but may occasionally require travel to Bradford County.  This position involves considerable skill and training in the performance of physical examinations and assessments with concurrent treatment of common and acute illnesses. Reviews lab studies in accordance with established protocols and procedures under a physician’s supervision. Work is evaluated through conferences and consultations. Assesses family planning patient's total health needs through physical exams and medical history, observation, palpation, auscultation, and percussion, along with indicated lab procedures. Treats patient’s problems according to written established protocols approved by the Health Department Physician. Advises patients in the management of common acute and chronic problems. Treats for problems according to protocol. Consults with physician regarding management of unusual illnesses not covered by protocol or further assessment and evaluation. Counsels’ patients regarding sexually transmitted diseases, prevention and treatment according to protocol. This includes direction of staff and activities related to medical care of acute and chronic medical conditions and referrals. Provides wound management and simple procedures established in protocols within scope of practice and training. Referrals to specialists for Illnesses as needed for treatment not within the scope of services provided by the Bradford County Health Department.Participates in quality Improvement and quality assurance activities of the program and makes recommendations for changes to enhance services.Attend meetings. classes/conference and in-services programs as requested or assigned to update knowledge and skills related to health department activities. Follow the DOH and local information Security Policies and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations related to confidential information.
  • Skilled in completing documentation of work.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Licensure as an APRN in the State of Florida
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CPR certification
