The incumbent examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Furthermore, the incumbent ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse prescribes medications and orders diagnostic tests and advises patients about continuing care. The Outpatient Orthopedic Joint Replacement Nurse Practitioner (APRN) functions as an advanced practice provider within a multidisciplinary academic orthopedic team specializing in adult joint reconstruction. This role provides comprehensive outpatient care to patients undergoing total hip and knee replacement procedures. The NP collaborates closely with orthopedic surgeons, fellows, residents, nurses, physical therapists, and ancillary staff to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care across the continuum of care, including conservative management, preoperative optimization, postoperative follow-up, and long-term outcomes management. The position supports the academic mission through participation in education, quality improvement, and clinical research initiatives.
