About The Position

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (FNP) Opportunity Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our four outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression. Visit us online at: https://emeraldcoastbehavioral.com/ The APRN oversees the quality of care delivered to assigned patients according to the established protocols between supervising physician(s). Conducts medical assessments, medical diagnoses, medication management, and treatment planning. Demonstrates strong communication skills, fostering collaborative relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or Post-Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Active Florida State license as APRN.
  • Active National Certification from an Approved Nursing Specialty Board (Family Nurse Practioner).
  • One (1) year experience working with behavioral health population as a medical ARNP preferred.
  • Ability to work 1 to 2 weekends per month up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Ability to to cover weekday shifts as needed for 10 hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Performs medical history & physicals (H&Ps) and medical consultations.
  • Obtains patient health histories and completes examinations.
  • Orders, performs and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies.
  • Diagnoses and treats acute health problems.
  • Provides health maintenance, screenings and referrals.
  • Participates in the antibiotic stewardship program.
  • Participation in hospital committee functions as needed.
  • Serves on committees as requested.
  • Provides direct clinical services for hospital medicine services according to established protocols.
  • Assessment of the physical, emotional, and developmental status of the patient across the life span.
  • Provide primary care based upon assessments, clinical judgements, and intervention to maintain, restore, and/or improve the health status of the patient.
  • Alter the activity level of patients in accordance with the health problem.
  • Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed.
  • Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records.
  • Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, or staff.
  • Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient's clinical status.
  • Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Prescribes, manages, and supervises medication treatment.
  • May prescribed controlled substances as stipulated in Florida Statute and within framework of established supervisory protocol.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of prescribed treatments and plans of care.
  • Teach, counsel, advise and allocate for the patient and/or family.
  • Provides quality assurance review through monitoring accuracy and comprehensiveness of patient records.
  • Evaluates hospital records, other psychiatric reports and related data.
