About The Position

Eligible for Relocation Assistance The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management. As an APP, you will manage a caseload of patients and exercise autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice also includes family support, discharge planning, staff education, and consultation. In this role you will provide direct support to patients throughout the inpatient stay for all abdominal transplant patients. This individual will utilize advance practice skills obtained through the completion of a formal provider program. These skills include advanced levels of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, as well as performing some invasive procedures. For this position, the APP will be responsible for functions related to the clinical care and management of solid organ transplant patients and others with end-stage organ disease. The APP is also responsible for planning, organizing, and directing patient care efforts in collaboration with medical and surgical physicians and other team members.

Requirements

  • Masters of Science in Nursing
  • Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration
  • Must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC or AANP
  • Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
  • Completion of an accredited (physician assistant) educational program
  • Certification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois licensure/registration

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of inpatient nursing experience preferred but not required
  • Critical Care experience preferred
  • At least 1 year of inpatient experience preferred
  • Critical Care experience/rotations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Taking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illness
  • Ordering and interpreting labs and imaging.
  • Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services when necessary.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and communicate among interdisciplinary teams.
  • Must be highly proficient and organized with patient examinations and assessments, diagnostic interpretations, clinical interventions, and health care planning.
  • Must have effective problem-solving skills
