About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) serving as the Vascular Surgery provider is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a licensed independent practitioner and is a member of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. Our specialized vascular surgery team focuses on treating patients with diseases of the arteries, including carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, and vein problems. Our population includes patients with atherosclerotic disease, end-stage renal disease, and genetic aortopathies. As part of an academic medical center, our vascular physicians are at the forefront of diagnosing aortic, arterial, venous, and other vascular diseases. This entails a blend of up-to-date medical practices, collaborative decision-making, and rigorous follow-up care. Regardless of the complexity of their condition, every patient can expect a patient-centered and personalized care plan. This dedication to clinical innovation ensures we consistently deliver the highest level of patient care. The Vascular Surgery APP has the primary responsibility of direct patient care within an inpatient setting for patients admitted to the Vascular Surgery Service and other services with vascular surgery consultation needs. The Vascular Surgery APP is responsible for partnering with the patient and family and nurse case manager to impact timely and effective discharges and patient flow; impact patient and family experience through communication and education; mentor residents, clinical nurses, and others; promote an interdisciplinary approach to care; support new processes to improve patient outcomes; participate in quality improvement processes; develop pathways and protocols to standardize care. As the service evolves and expands, there will be opportunities to practice in outpatient vascular surgery and wound care settings. The ideal candidate will be interested in joining a thriving and collaborative academic practice caring for patients requiring highly complex care. We strongly encourage participation in national Vascular conferences and research endeavors. In addition to key job responsibilities, qualifications and other job requirements listed below, the Vascular Surgery APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.
