About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, to join our oncology team at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, NY. The APP will work collaboratively with oncologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to adult oncology patients across the continuum—from diagnosis and treatment through survivorship or end-of-life care. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, depending on departmental needs, and requires excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality cancer care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant Studies (PA).
  • Active New York State RN and NP license (for NPs) or NYS PA license.
  • National Board Certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • DEA license (or eligibility).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of oncology experience preferred.
  • New graduates with strong oncology clinical rotations and background will be considered.
  • Inpatient hospital experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, including history and physical exams, on oncology patients.
  • Manage and monitor cancer treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging studies to inform clinical decision-making.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment, identify complications, and adjust management plans in collaboration with the attending physician.
  • Provide symptom management, palliative care, and supportive services.
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, treatments, side effects, and follow-up care.
  • Coordinate care across specialties including surgery, radiation oncology, and supportive services.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinical rounds.
  • Assist with hospital admissions, daily management, and discharges of oncology inpatients as needed.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and evidence-based practice protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
