About The Position

Carilion Clinic is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Urology team in the New River Valley (NRV). This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-centered environment alongside experienced urologists and clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • NCCPA certification (PA) or national NP certification
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Minimum of three 3 years of clinical experience preferred. Additional experience may be required for some specialties.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
  • If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Current PALS/NPR, as required, specific to position.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies.
  • Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers.
  • Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier.
  • Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years APP experience preferred
  • Urology experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient urologic care including patient evaluations, follow-ups, and treatment planning
  • Manage common urologic conditions (e.g., BPH, kidney stones, urinary tract conditions, prostate concerns)
  • Perform office-based procedures as appropriate (training provided if needed)
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, and support staff
  • Participate in patient education and care coordination
  • Document care in the electronic medical record (Epic)
