About The Position

Seattle Children’s is seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Psychiatry-Trained Physician Assistant to join our multidisciplinary South Clinic team. This unique role offers the opportunity to practice across the continuum of care, providing stability and specialized support for children and adolescents navigating various levels of mental health acuity. In this position, your time will be balanced equally between two vital areas: 50% Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Working with patients who require intensive, daily psychiatric stabilization. 50% Outpatient Psychiatry: Managing long-term care through both in-person and telepsychiatry visits. As a core member of our behavioral health team, you will provide high-quality, developmentally informed, and family-centered care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program
  • One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner
  • For Physician Assistants: Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington
  • For Physician Assistants: Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • For All Providers: Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
  • For All Providers: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
  • For All Providers: Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations, obtaining comprehensive patient histories, and performing physical assessments for pediatric patients.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing psychotropic medications, and monitoring treatment efficacy in accordance with clinical guidelines.
  • Partnering closely with attending child psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and social workers to provide a holistic treatment approach.
  • Maintaining timely, accurate documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and contributing to departmental quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participating in the education and training of patients, families, and clinic staff to improve mental health literacy and outcomes.
