About The Position

The position involves conducting physical examinations, assessing patients’ medical histories, and performing relevant diagnostic tests. The candidate will evaluate foot and ankle conditions, including injuries, deformities, infections, and chronic diseases. Collaboration with podiatrists to develop treatment plans for patients is essential, along with assisting in surgical procedures, wound care, and minor office-based procedures. The role includes administering injections, prescribing medications, and providing patient education. There is potential to serve as the first assistant during surgical procedures related to foot and ankle conditions, as well as assisting with casting, splinting, and applying orthotic devices. Monitoring post-operative patients and managing wound healing is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited program.
  • Current Illinois license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APP in podiatry or a related field is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
