As one of the top-ranked kidney care programs in the nation, the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Children’s Mercy provides family-centered care for children and teens with kidney diseases. Proficiently provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement for patient populations in the Children’s Mercy Nephrology Clinic, Wichita. The APP provides outpatient nephrology care for children with a variety of kidney diagnoses in the outpatient nephrology clinic and via telehealth encounters based in Children’s Mercy, Wichita. Diagnoses include, but are not limited to, enuresis, hypertension, genetic kidney disorders, glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, stages I-IV, congenital anomalies, and dysplasia. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.
