About The Position

About the Opportunity Join a high-performing, multidisciplinary oral and maxillofacial surgery team specializing in head & neck cancer surgery, microvascular free-flap reconstruction, and complex facial trauma care. We are committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered oncology and reconstructive services. As our new Advanced Practice Provider, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless outpatient care, supporting both surgical oncology and reconstructive patients throughout their treatment journey. This opportunity is based within an academic medical setting, where you will collaborate closely with a dynamic team that includes residents and fellows. Abundant research opportunities are also available for providers interested in academic work. This is an ideal role for an APP seeking meaningful patient relationships, professional growth, and the opportunity to practice at the top of their license—with predictable hours and a supportive team environment. Location: Knoxville, TN — University of Tennessee Medical Center — Head and Neck Oncology, Reconstruction & Facial Trauma Clinic Position Type: Full-Time • Outpatient Clinic • Monday–Friday • No call, weekends, or holidays

Requirements

  • PA, MSN, or DNP with active Tennessee NP or PA licensure
  • Experience in oncology, surgical specialties, or head & neck care preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills
  • EMR proficiency and confident triage capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage post-operative, surveillance, and select new patient visits
  • Accurately document encounters in the EMR
  • Prescribe routine medications, order labs and imaging as appropriate
  • Recognize and escalate urgent clinical findings to the supervising surgeon
  • Provide wound care, lifestyle counseling, and ongoing patient education
  • Participate in tumor boards and quality improvement initiatives
