About The Position

Regions Hospital is seeking an experienced APP with excellent critical thinking skills, collaboration, and assessment skills to join our Palliative Care team. The APP works in collaboration with physicians and other medical staff to provide Palliative Care services to patients and their families. The APP engages in independent decision-making about health care needs and provides health care services to individuals and their families. The APP performs a comprehensive history, including chart review and information gathered from the family and performs physical and psychological health assessments. The APP provides direct patient care as well as consultative services to assure state of the art Palliative Care. The APP will participate as an integral member of an interdisciplinary health care team and provide education to other health care professionals in various aspects of patient care.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
  • 3-5 years in a clinical setting such as inpatient, hospice/homecare, outpatient or community based palliative care.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current DEA certification (verified during credentialing process).
  • For Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist: Currently licensed as an APRN, ANCC, AACN or AANP by the Minnesota Board of Nursing; approved for prescription writing privileges.
  • Currently licensed as a RN by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
  • Certified by a national nurse certification organization acceptable to Minnesota Board of Nursing (i.e. CNS or NP).
  • For Physician Assistant: Licensed as a PA with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
  • NCCPA certification.
  • Approved for prescription writing privileges by Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in Palliative Care or related fields.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years as APP (NP, CNS or PA).
  • Palliative Care Certified.
  • 3 years of hospital-based experience.

Responsibilities
