Schedule includes three 12-hour clinical shifts plus four hours of administrative time per week onsite at Allina Health Woodbury Clinic. Weekend rotation: 1 in 6.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Two or more years of experience post PA/NP training preferred.
  • Orthopedic experience required
  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice upon hire.
  • National certification (NCCPA for PA or equivalent NP certification) upon hire.
  • BLS Tier 1 certification required within 180 days of hire.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration registration required upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care to patients in an orthopedic urgent care setting.
  • Complete comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determine diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests in collaboration with attending physicians.
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, therapies, and medical equipment.
  • Provide patient education for acute injury management, chronic conditions, and wellness care.
  • Refer patients to specialty care as appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians when care needs fall outside PA/NP scope or when diagnosis or treatment plans are unclear.
  • Function as part of an integrated care team to manage patient care and disposition.
  • Support development and growth of innovative orthopedic care delivery models.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Diagnosis and management of acute and urgent musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions.
  • Illness and injury prevention.
  • Conservative rehabilitation strategies.
  • Counseling patients on non-surgical versus surgical treatment options.
  • Delivery of care through both in-person and virtual encounters.
