About The Position

This is a full-time position with a schedule that allows an average of 20 encounters/visits per day and includes participating in a rotation to cover extended hours (late night and Saturday mornings). The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) must provide patient-centered comprehensive, quality healthcare by performing evaluative, diagnostic, and therapeutic functions under the direction of a licensed physician and his/her protocols. The APP will be responsible for providing primary care to his/her own panel of patients. Requirements

  • Valid Kansas Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License
  • Must have and maintain BLS certification
  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse participant- and employee-base

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year experience in a clinical setting preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Integrate SFHC’s mission into all aspects of clinical care
  • Work collaboratively with all SFHC employees and the Salina medical community
  • Teach and counsel patients regarding their health and healthcare needs
  • Appropriately order and/or perform screenings for various patient populations, including but not limited to, developmental screenings for children, guideline-based cancer and cardiovascular screenings (pap smears, mammograms, colorectal cancer screenings, lipid screenings, etc.), mental health screenings, and lifestyle behavioral screenings
  • Appropriately order and/or potentially collect biomedical specimens, including but not limited to, urine, stool, skin, sputum, and nasal specimens
  • Appropriately order and/or perform physiological tests, including but not limited to, audiograms, tympanograms, vision screenings, and electrocardiograms
  • Appropriately order and/or perform basic in-office procedures, including but not limited to, splinting, casting, superficial foreign body removal, nail trimming, and laceration repair
  • Appropriately order and/or potentially administer medications, injections, IV fluids, immunizations, and intradermal tests
  • Appropriately order X-Ray’s and laboratory procedures
  • Appropriately order consults
  • Identify patients who may require inpatient care and notify supervising physician
  • Perform lifesaving procedures during life threatening situations
  • Communicate with patients and staff in timely manner and per outlined expectations, including but not limited to, reporting of patient results, answering of patient questions, and communicating with consultants
  • Complete documentation of patient care including encounters and other episodes of care in the patient record in a timely fashion and per outlined expectations
  • Participate in periodic evaluations of services rendered including for review of appropriateness of care provided and for review of appropriateness of billing
  • Actively participate in all appropriate clinic-wide quality assurance program initiatives, including but not limited to chart audits, clinical quality measures, and patient satisfaction metrics
  • Actively participate in patient-centered medical home and value-based care activities
  • Participate in departmental and resident/faculty meetings as requested
  • Perform all duties, services and documentation in full compliance with organization policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with all SFHC employees and the Salina medical community

  • Perform other duties as assigned
