Join the distinguished UNC Neurology Movement Disorders Center as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP). This role offers the opportunity to work alongside 6 movement disorder specialists and 2 other APPs, providing comprehensive outpatient care to a diverse patient population with movement disorders. This includes individuals receiving innovative neuromodulation treatments like deep brain stimulation and focused ultrasound ablation. The Center's designation as a Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence, CurePSP Center of Care, and Mission MSA Center of Excellence underscores its commitment to exceptional patient care, supported by an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the state of North Carolina.
  • Board certification if required by the Department.
  • DEA certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency.
  • Effective leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets pertinent diagnostic tests/results.
  • Develops appropriate differential diagnoses and implements treatment plans including prescribing/ordering of appropriate evidence-based pharmacological agents.
  • Conducts preventive health screening based on age, history and patient needs.
  • Maintains clear comprehensive yet concise records of all aspects of patient care.
  • Leads/participates in projects to improve productivity.
  • Educates clients and/or families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family centered care.
  • Provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students.
  • Participates in community/network outreach programs.
  • Engages in daily continuous quality improvement by identifying and implementing processes for improvement.
