About The Position

The successful applicant will be an Advanced Practice Provider interested in working part-time to care for patients at MUSC Health’s Urgent Care located in Elgin, SC. The APP will join a busy and thriving urgent care working alongside physicians and advanced practice providers and must be able to work in a high-volume clinic while providing compassionate patient care.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as an APP in urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
• Evaluates and treats patients based on history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results.
• Willingness to obtain DOT certification to conduct DOT physicals.
• Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, including administering local anesthesia, incision and drainage, suturing lacerations, basic splinting, wound care, cerumen disimpaction, foreign body extractions, non-surgical epistaxis management, pelvic exams, and IV insertion.
• Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
• Documents and bills for direct care provided.
• Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
• Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
• Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
• Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
• Potential to precept students enrolled as advanced practice provider students.
