About The Position

Ascension St. Vincent is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) for our multi-specialty Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Interventional Radiology team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St. Vincent to provide medical services to patients. The position involves working on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a compensation incentive. The role includes rounding on surgical inpatients, seeing new consults, discharging patients, ordering labs and testing, following up on lab and test results, answering nurse calls, and performing some small bedside procedures. In collaboration with a physician, the provider will expand individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Indiana Physician Assistant Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 1 year of experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Life Support certification.
• Orthopedic Physician Assistant credential.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview and examination.
• Order, perform and interpret diagnostic studies.
• Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunization and patient care.
• Provide direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Document delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
