About The Position

We are seeking a Cardiac Surgery PA or Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner (with RNFA certification) to join our elite team at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. This position is full-time with a day-shift schedule and rotating on-call assignments. The role involves participating in the care and medical decision-making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients, as well as performing various surgical procedures and navigating the Cerner EMR system.

Requirements

  • 2+ years CV Surgery OR experience preferred.
  • Current Board Certification.
  • Current BLS and ACLS.
  • Current prescribing privileges including DEA license for controlled substances.
  • Oklahoma State License & CSR.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
  • Master's degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • First assistance experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients.
  • Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest.
  • Surgical First assistant: cases include CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, ECMO cannulation.
  • Order, perform and interpret imaging, data and labs.
  • Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement and chest tube placement.
  • Navigate and create records in the patient chart using the Cerner EMR system.
  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.
  • Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies.
  • Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
  • Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
  • Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
  • Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
