About The Position

We are seeking a Cardiac Surgery PA to join our elite team at Ascension Medical Group. The position is full-time with a day-shift schedule and rotating on-call assignments. The incoming Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be involved with complex cardiovascular surgical cases as part of a team of highly specialized physicians and assistants. The role includes participation in the care and medical decision-making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients at both St. Vincent Indianapolis and St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a $15,000 sign-on bonus for providers with 2+ years of direct cardiac surgery experience.

Requirements

• 2+ years CV Surgery OR experience preferred.
• Current Board Certification.
• Current BLS and ACLS.
• Current prescribing privileges including DEA license for controlled substances.
• Indiana State License & CSR.
• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Life Support preferred.
• Orthopedic Physician Assistant preferred.
• 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients.
• Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest using the Maquet Vasoview Hemopro I and/or Hemopro II systems.
• Surgical First assistant for cases including CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, ECMO Insertion, VAD insertion & heart transplant cases.
• Order, perform and interpret imaging, data and labs.
• Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement and chest tube placement.
• Navigate and create records in the patient chart using the Sunrise Clinical Manager EMR system.
