About The Position

UVA Health is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join its hospital medicine advanced practice provider (APP) team. This role involves managing a population of acute care general medicine patients at the UVA Medical Center, emphasizing independence with physician support. Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
• License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider in Virginia.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current PALS/NRP and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required for the position.

Nice To Haves

• Procedural training optional.
• Experience in managing acute care patients.

Responsibilities

• Rounding on a cohort of 7-9 patients in an independent, APP-forward practice model backed by physician support.
• Performing and documenting progress notes and history & physical exams.
• Analyzing clinical data to form well-developed differential diagnoses and coordinating safe transitions of care.
• Prescribing appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and adjusting the plan of care based on ongoing data collection.
• Identifying appropriate sub-specialist consultation.
• Effectively communicating plans of care with patients, families, nurses, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, nurses, and therapists.
• Leading other members of the care team in a dynamic environment.
• Engaging in self-motivated learning and quality improvement initiatives.
