UVA Health is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join its hospital medicine advanced practice provider (APP) team. This role involves managing a population of acute care general medicine patients at the UVA Medical Center, emphasizing independence with physician support. The position offers a collaborative environment focused on continual education and professional development.

Rounding on a cohort of 7-9 patients in an independent, APP-forward practice model backed by physician support.
Performing and documenting progress notes and history & physical exams.
Analyzing clinical data to form well-developed differential diagnoses and coordinating safe transitions of care.
Prescribing appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and adjusting the plan of care based on ongoing data collection.
Identifying appropriate sub-specialist consultation.
Effectively communicating plans of care with patients, families, nurses, and other stakeholders.
Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, nurses, and therapists.
Leading other members of the care team in a dynamic environment.
Engaging in self-motivated learning and quality improvement initiatives.

Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider in Virginia.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Current PALS/NRP and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required for the position.

Procedural training optional.
Experience in managing acute care patients.
