The UVA Department of Neurology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the General Neurology Division. The APP will provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and longitudinal management of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Responsibilities include conducting patient interviews and examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and managing neurologic conditions in partnership with General Neurologists. The APP will work collaboratively with supervising and collaborating neurologists and may perform procedures such as Botox injections consistent with training and credentialing. General Neurology offers a broad-based evaluation and management across the full spectrum of neurologic disorders. The role is supported by readily available neurology subspecialists, enabling timely consultation, and coordinated care. Preferred: •Experience in Neurology is preferred. •New graduates considered Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. Administration Prepares and attends to all reports, claims, and correspondence necessary or appropriate to the performance of professional services. Follows policies and procedures, including those of UVA Medical Center, CMS and other contracted payers with which the entity may contract. Correspond with insurance carriers as needed for procedure approvals. Professional Promotes the professional practice of the advanced practice group by serving as a clinical resource to nursing, medical and allied health care practitioners. Seeks professional development and growth opportunities that enhance professional practice through formal and informal activities including developing and presenting educational programs. Maintains professional license including independent Continuing Medical Education. Clinical Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures commensurate with training and experience, as credentialed by UVA Health System. Participates in 8 clinical session of patient care (4 hour/session) per week. Formulates diagnoses, identifies problems and health risk profiles, documents and clearly communicates with other members of the health care team. Performs, orders, and interprets diagnostic studies, such as x-rays and laboratory tests, in consultation with peers and colleagues. Performs procedures within scope of practice and UVA Health System credentialing and privileges. Orders medications, treatments and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive regulations. Requests consultation and initiates referrals to other health care providers, including specialists when and if needed. Evaluates and analyzes patient responses to the disease process and/or therapeutic, diagnostic interventions. Provides information, education and support to patients/families regarding disease processes and treatment plans (diagnostic procedures, medications and treatments), thus facilitating communication between patients/families and the health care team. Leardership May serve on select committees as needed. Participate in professional development.
