About The Position

Ascension is looking for a Board Certified PA or a Board Certified/Board Eligible APRN for our Trauma/Acute care surgery Department. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension to provide medical services to patients. The position is located at the new Level I Trauma Center and involves pre/postoperative care and floor management of traumatic and acute care surgical patients. The APP functions as the continuity of care amongst the surgical team, as residents rotate on and off the service. You will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including seeing new consults and floor patients, discharge planning, process improvement, collaborating with new residents, and some administrative tasks to help improve workflow. There are opportunities for procedures if interested. You will work alongside 2 other APPs who already practice in this role. This position involves a lot of teaching and guiding residents as they onboard onto the service and move through their training. You will work with a collaborative group including attendings, residents, other APP’s and medical students. This position requires flexibility and leadership skills within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Master's degree of Nursing required.
  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • APRNs with Acute Care Adult, Adult/Gero, or Family certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical services to patients in the Trauma/Acute care surgery Department.
