About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work closely with our electrophysiology cardiologists to provide comprehensive care to patients with arrhythmias and other heart rhythm disorders. As an APP, you will be responsible for performing patient assessments, assisting with EP procedures, managing follow-up care, and contributing to the overall treatment plan in collaboration with the cardiology team. This role requires a clinical expert with strong interpersonal skills, an ability to manage complex cardiovascular cases, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Licensed and certified Physician Assistant in the State of New York
  • National certification ( NCCPA)
  • Cardiology experience preferred but not required; strong interest in cardiovascular care is essential
  • Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • DEA certification or eligibility

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrophysiology procedures (e.g., catheter ablation, pacemaker implantation).
  • Familiarity with the use of cardiac devices (pacemakers, ICDs) and remote monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced heart rhythm management, including arrhythmia pharmacology and device therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations and assessments for individuals with arrhythmias or other heart rhythm conditions.
  • Take patient histories, perform physical exams, and order diagnostic tests such as ECGs, Holter monitors, and stress tests.
  • Interpret test results and collaborate with the EP cardiologists to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Assist in electrophysiology procedures (e.g., catheter ablation, pacemaker/ICD implantation) by providing pre- and post-procedure care and patient education.
  • Monitor patient progress and assist in troubleshooting devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators during follow-up appointments.
  • Educate patients and their families about arrhythmias, treatment options, and lifestyle changes.
  • Provide counseling and emotional support to patients undergoing complex cardiovascular procedures.
  • Work closely with EP cardiologists, other APPs, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and continuity of care across settings.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary care team meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment outcomes, and clinical best practices.
  • Manage patient follow-up appointments, including monitoring progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance for patients with implanted devices and those requiring long-term management of arrhythmias.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical research if applicable.
