About The Position

Join the esteemed Seattle Children's Neonatal Intensive Care team and deliver life-saving critical care across the Pacific Northwest! As a vital part of one of the nation's premier pediatric hospitals, you will be joining a highly specialized team that manages one of the largest and most comprehensive regional neonatal programs in the Pacific Northwest. Our program spans 6 institutions and serves a 5-state region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho - WWAMI), providing care to over 500 high-risk neonates annually. Position Details Role: Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) Location: Providing critical care across Seattle Children's regional network of 6 NICU institutions (Level II - IV). FTE: Flexible range from 0.6 to 1.0 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent), based on candidate interest and program needs The Opportunity: High-Impact, Specialized Care We are seeking a highly skilled, resilient, and dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join our specialized Neonatal APP team. In this critical role, you will provide comprehensive medical and critical care to neonates with acute and chronic conditions. Clinical Autonomy: Assume independent and interdependent responsibilities in the assessment, diagnosis, initiation of treatment, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Essential Procedures: Perform essential clinical procedures as part of a high-functioning team. Regional Impact: Contribute to the continuity and quality of care across our regional program, spanning Level II, III, and IV NICUs. Beyond the Bedside: Engage in education, consultation, research, and evaluation of clinical practice across the network. Our Environment: Excellence and Collaboration You will be joining a highly specialized team committed to excellence in neonatal critical care. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stress, and collaborative setting. Main Campus NICU: Our flagship unit is a 38-bed Level IV NICU, including ECMO management. Team Approach: Patient care responsibilities are equally shared amongst a dedicated team of in-house Neonatologists, Neonatal Critical Care Fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers. Community Presence: Collaborate directly with Neonatologists and the SCH Neonatal APP team to provide care across three Level III and three Level II community NICUs.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Minimum Master’s Degree as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP).
  • Physician Assistant: Graduation from a nationally accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) certification OR Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) required for PAs.
  • Current, active license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) in Washington State.
  • Current DEA registration for Washington State.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire if working in Seattle Children’s Level IV NICU.

Nice To Haves

  • For Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP): Prior experience specifically in the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner role.
  • Experience in a Level III NICU as a Registered Nurse.
  • For Physician Assistants (PA-C): One year of work experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Level II or higher.
  • Prior experience in the Neonatal Physician Assistant role.
  • Experience practicing in a Level III NICU as a PA-C.

Responsibilities
