About The Position

The summary purpose of the APP Manager is to provide leadership for the health system and advanced health providers in the development and implementation of ongoing quality improvement through an array of regulatory compliance, policies and programs, funding/funds flow/productivity, training and technical assistance, data and information sharing, and partnerships and collaborations. The APP manager will also provide direct management to APP within general surgery department and collaborates with the faculty physicians. The primary managerial responsibility is to provide professional support to the APPs and Lead APPs so there is alignment with the departments and UCSF Health. The primary clinical responsibility is to provide clinical services to inpatient adult patients. The APP manager will be a practicing clinician and administrator. The incumbent in this position will be 10% clinical 90% administrative with the flexibility to limit their clinical practice based on administrative demands. The central responsibility of this role is to serve as a single point of contact, liaison, and expertise for matters specific to practice oriented APPs resourcing the APP workforce. The APP manager is an Advanced Practice Provider who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills and experience necessary to diagnose and treat patients in their area of specialization. The manager demonstrates self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the health system. The manager needs to engage with alignment of practice oversight and workflows amongst all UCSF adult campus. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $217,600 - $326,400 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • Master's Degree required in a health care related field from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 3 (Years of progressive responsibility related healthcare leadership and/.
  • If r Senior Physician Assistant, must have included 3_\ years of progressive responsibility related healthcare leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team and to manage the complex workflow and competing priorities involved with providing quality care as an Advanced Practitioner.
  • In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards, systems, external regulations and internal policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and problem solving with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.
  • Doctorate prepared Advanced experience in clinical specialty supervising APPs.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively supervise clinicians, manage complex workflow and multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document APP performance.
  • Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and data management systems used in clinics / clinical departments.
  • Demonstrated leadership and professional growth by achieving promotion to NP 3 classification
  • Current California licensure in good standing by specialty within 90 days of hire: Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant
  • Possess National Provider Identification (NPI)
  • Furnishing license as required by specialty
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license in the state of California within 90 days of hire
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification
  • National board certification in area of clinical practice upon hire
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification
